Peninsula Crafts Exhibition and Craft Sale

Our next Exhibition and Sale will be at the the Berners Hall, Main Road, Wolverstone. The name reflects the history of the village, which has been shaped by Woolverstone Hall, the seat of the Berners family from 1773 to 1937.

As always, we will have a wide range of items for show and sale.

Our Shows always include gifts for everyone, even the difficult-to-buy-for-people who you think "have everything"!

Items for house and home in fabric, wood, wool, and ceramic. Typically, our exhibitors include makers of...

Bowls and platters - wood, fabric, ceramic
Clocks and goblets - ceramic and wood
Pepper Mills in wood and with silver embellishment
Quilts - single, double, queen and king sized
Fashion - jackets, sweaters, tunics in wools and cottons
Accessories - scarves, wrist-warmers, slippers, bags in fabric and wools
Jewellery - Silver, beading, needle-weaving, chain-mail, wood and ceramic
Hand-made cards
Cushions
Fused Glass
Hand-turned pens and pencils
Crochet accessories and garments
Children's section with a wide variety of soft toys and baby toddler quilts

You will meet the artists and artisans and see how some of their work is created. There will be plenty of help at hand, and if you do not see what you want please do ASK - we always have many things held in reserve as we do not have room to display everything!

Many of our crafters have not only a local reputation for originality and expertise but an international one. You can be assured of a high standard of execution and unusual items to purchase for yourself or as a gift.

Please come and support these local crafters and artisans - everything is made locally.

We look forward to welcoming you at our next Exhibition and Sale!

About Us

INTRODUCTION

Peninsula Crafts is an arts and crafts group based on and around the Shotley Peninsula. It was formed in 1997 by a dedicated and highly skilled group of artisans and craftspeople who live on the peninsula, and who create a wide range of items not only for exhibition but for sale.

The group has proved to be a lively forum for local crafters, and successful, celebrating its 25th exhibition in May 2013. With guest exhibitors, many with national and international reputations, each exhibition is diverse, and throughout the years has contributed a small but vital part to the local economy.

New members and guests are always very welcome. If you would like to find out more about the group, the exhibitions or becoming a member please get in touch with the Secretary (see Contacts).

EXHIBITIONS

The group arranges two formal exhibitions and sales a year - in Spring and Autumn (often held at the Ipswich High School in Woolverstone). These are regular events and over the years have attracted a dedicated and growing number of customers from across the UK and abroad.

Many customers not only buy items from the events, but also commission the members to provide them with individually designed items. A testimony not only to the variety but the high standards achieved within the group.

The items available vary widely not only in the variety of disciplines, but in price with pieces ranging from a few pounds to many hundreds – so there is something for everyone!

In past years, we have also hosted a one day Working Exhibition. This gives people the opportunity to see some of the artisans at work, discuss the crafts in a relaxed and informal setting and perhaps to buy some of the pieces on display.

Exhibitions

The group normally holds several exhibitions and sales a year. These have been regular events and over the years have attracted a dedicated and growing number of customers from far and wide. Sadly, like so much else, events have been disrupted by Covid. We are more than pleased to be able to invite everyone to our summer exhibition this year at the Berners Hall in Wolverstone (see Home page for details).

In the past (pre-Covid), one of the Shows has been a 'working exhibition', where the public can meet the crafters. We hope to be able to do this again soon.

Meanwhile, we look forward to seeing you at our next Exhibition!
