About Us

Peninsula Crafts is an arts and crafts group based on and around the Shotley Peninsula. It was formed in 1997 by a dedicated and highly skilled group of artisans and craftspeople who live on the peninsula, and who create a wide range of items not only for exhibition but for sale.

The group has proved to be a lively forum for local crafters, and successful, celebrating its 25th exhibition in May 2013. With guest exhibitors, many with national and international reputations, each exhibition is diverse, and throughout the years has contributed a small but vital part to the local economy.

New members and guests are always very welcome. If you would like to find out more about the group, the exhibitions or becoming a member please get in touch with the Secretary (see Contacts).

The group arranges two formal exhibitions and sales a year - in the Spring at The Shipwreck at Shotley Marina, and in the Autumn (often held at the Ipswich High School in Woolverstone). These are regular events and over the years have attracted a dedicated and growing number of customers from across the UK and abroad.

Many customers not only buy items from the events, but also commission the members to provide them with individually designed items. A testimony not only to the variety but the high standards achieved within the group.

The items available vary widely not only in the variety of disciplines, but in price with pieces ranging from a few pounds to many hundreds – so there is something for everyone!

We also host a one day Working Exhibition. This year, it will be on Bank Holiday Monday 30th May at the Shipwreck at Shotley Marina. This gives people the opportunity to see some of the artisans at work, discuss the crafts in a relaxed and informal setting and perhaps to buy some of the pieces on display.
